Care & Maintenance: How to brush, style, wash, color & care for your new hair extensions.
It is imperative that you take special care of your new extensions. If the hair extensions are properly applied we guarantee your experience will be rewarding. Whether adding hair for volume, thickness or just some highlights if you follow these essential maintenance steps you will have a pleasant experience with your new look thanks to our human remy hair extensions.

Brushing: Most hair weakens and becomes damaged as a result of everyday grooming. If the hair is not protected during wet combing, blow drying with hot air and styling, hair will split and eventually lead to breakage. Hair must be thoroughly moisturized which will leave the hair shiny and smooth.
Using either the loop brush or boar brush, thoroughly brush your fusion hair extensions twice a day. Start at the bottom and gradually brush to scalp in a smooth downward stroke without pulling or tugging. If there is a tangle, hold the section with one hand and gently brush downward until tangle loosens up. Brushing daily eliminates chances of the hair extensions tangling with each other. As natural hair sheds at the root, it is still attached in the extension so brushing will eliminate natural hair shedding to cause tangling or matting.
Washing:
Wash your new hair extensions at least once a week to avoid natural oil build up. You need to keep bonded area as clean and dry as possible.
When shampooing, do not scrub your hair excessively. Massage your scalp gently. Rinse in a downward, natural position. Distribute conditioner in a downward motion from midshaft to ends. Avoid conditioner on the bonded areas of extensions. (conditioner on the bonded area can cause slippage to the bonds, links or tape.) Be sure to always use a sulfate-free shampoo and conditioner. see hair care.
Rinse and towel blot. Never rub hair in towel.
**Always spray leave in conditioner from midshaft to ends, brush and detangle gently. This will help with combing out any tangles and keeps hair moisturized and smooth.
Styling:
Moisture loss is the main cause of hair extensions to lose luster, resulting in dry frizzy hair. The best way to maintain the quality of hair extensions while still using styling tools is to use little to no heat. The occasional use of your flat iron on extensions is okay in most cases.
If you do decide to use a flat iron or curling iron, its ideal to follow these guidelines to prevent as much damage as possible to your extensions.
After Care:
Blow dry, flat iron or curl hair with care making sure to keep excessive heat from blow dryer or direct heat from hot irons directly on attachment areas. Always hold extension while brushing to avoid excessive tugging. Just like your own natural hair, wash hair after any swimming in chlorine or salt water. Chlorine or salt water left in the hair can contribute to damage or slipping to the attachment areas.
Dry hair throughly before going to bed. Never go to bed with wet hair. Tie back in a loose pony or braid to keep fusion hair extensions from tangling during sleep. Do not pull wet or damp hair back in a ponytail or in a hat, make sure hair is completely dry first.
Coloring / Perming:
Hair Shop USA's extensions are intended for use by licensed professionals. If you desire to change the color or texture of your hair, make sure to do so by a licensed professional. Although Hair Shop USA's fusion hair extensions are 100% human we recommend to color hair with semi permanent or deposit only colors to change the depth or tone of the hair. NEVER BLEACH EXTENSIONS.
NOTE:
It is always important to consider the condition of your clients hair. If your client has severely damaged or thinning hair you want to choose the right method to ensure not to put any excess strain on there natural hair. When apply a strand method of long hair extensions be sure to always take a clean square parting, that is of the same thickness of the extension to be installed. Too little of a hair parting will cause tension and possible breakage of the natural hair.
• Always use a heat protector and only flat iron freshly shampooed dry hair. If your hair is dirty, the oils will adhere to the iron causing it to burn as it straightens.
• Limit the use of heat or decrease the temperature to reduce the amount of damage it can cause.
